Specific learning objectives

• To briefly review the surgical morbidity and mortality for patients suffering from CKD stage 3 to 5D, related to different types of surgery.
• To discuss potential complications related to these surgeries for these patients, and more specifically
• bleeding risk and anemia
• peri-operative hypertension or hypotension
• post operative hypertension or hypotension
• risk of acute kidney injury and dialysis for CKD patients stage 3 to 5
• fluid overload state
• To integrate in day-to-day clinical practice usage of tools to better evaluate and manage these complications.
• To select useful pre-operative lab, imagery, or other tests to better evaluate this clientele.
• To propose therapeutic strategies to prevent or treat some of the complications associated to surgeries, such as
• proper timing dialysis therapies
• anemia management
• fluid therapies
• Other useful strategies
